Here are some tips for having a great HDTV experience:
- Don't buy the cheapest television. All HDTV's are not created equal. A $400 52" Flat Panel Television will have issues such as poor picture quality. Cheaper TV companies use cheap or older components. Those Cheaper HDTV break down more frequently and usually have a less than steller warranty.
- Middle of the road is good for wires. You can overspend on wires that is usually where the big box stores make their most profit. $30-$40 is about all you need to spend on the typical 6' HDMI cable. If you are spending more than that you are paying for the name or the brand store you got it from.
- Not all HDTV Installation people you come across the internet or in the phone book are the same and some don't even really know what they are doing. If you found your installer on craigslist they probably don't have insurance. If they don't have insurance that's a pretty good bet that they haven't spent the time to learn how to setup everything correctly, they don't have the correct licenses to perform the installation and you can't be sure if the television won't fall down.
- While we offer calibration services we recommend that you spend time with your TV to get the picture you think is the best. To many the recommended calibration colors makes the actors look like they all have sunburns. Everyone see and perceives pictures differently. Have your installer show you how to change the settings watch a few of your favorite movies and adjust it until it looks perfect to you.
- If an installer offers to come out and give you an in home estimate for free... run away. Ask yourself, How good could they be they spend 1-2 hours at your home for free because time is money for a service business. Several companies of ill repute have ruined this for the industry, scheduling fake estimates to book up good installers times. Only go with an installer that offers to do a site estimate and include that in the cost if of the installation if you choose them.
